In support of Paul McCarthy, the aggressed artist who made the sculpture that was vandalized in Place Vendôme in Paris, Makery presents its first explicitly adult tutorial: the DIY butt plug.
This week, the social networks have been buzzing about PlugGate, regarding Paul McCarthy’s “Tree” erected, then deflated in Place Vendôme by those opposed to the latest sculpture by the American artist (who was also invited to install his “Chocolate Factory” at La Monnaie de Paris).
Whether tree or butt plug, it wasn’t long before this provocative gesture (albeit not as provocative as McCarthy’s entire career) caught the attention of tight-assed locals. We’ll let YouTuber Samai Cédlart (perfectly) summarize the story (in French):

DIY for ages 18+
As this controversy would be little more than laughable if it didn’t reveal France’s ugly reactionary side, we decided to react in our own way, by researching how to make your own butt plugs at home, in our first X-rated Do It Yourself. Indeed, this sorry affair will have at least enlightened a large part of the general public to the existence of the butt plug, which, according to Wikipedia, is “a sex toy that is designed to be inserted into the rectum for sexual pleasure”.
Silicon and steel
On the Internet, of course, there are not one but several recipes to fabricate your very own DIY butt plug. However, even in fablabs and makerspaces that seem to be overflowing with useless 3D-printed objects, you don’t see very many sex toys, and even fewer butt plugs. As Mistress Katherine, dressed in red latex, takes a perverse pleasure in stretching out her 22-minute presentation on how to make a pony butt plug on YouTube, we’ll summarize it for you: buy a silicon kit from a toy store, cut fake hair (which she says is even cheaper after Halloween) to make the pony’s tail, then push it into the silicon kneaded to the desired shape (one glance at McCarthy’s Tree should be a good enough reminder) and let harden within a few hours. We passed on the tutorial for the steel butt plug, which requires more powerful tools (such as a metal lathe).
Lost wax
We prefer the more DIY version, without latex or steel, yet all the same posted on SpankingArt.com, and still relevant (even if it dates back to 2008). Why? Because it uses the lost wax process, which is closer to sculpture (and thus to contemporary art), as well as simple, cheap materials (wax, a 20-euro glue gun, a plastic bottle, a hair-dryer, a few pins and an oven).

The only real drawback, as the tutorial states at the outset, is the time required (at least 8 hours). While the fabrication method of the mold allows for only one unique shape, it does have the advantage of letting you precisely define the ideal size and shape of your sex toy. And if you enjoyed that exercise, you can build momentum by drilling holes in golf balls to make anal beads (2-minute tutorial here). Because why shouldn’t the DIY revolution also give you pleasure?
